March 22, 2016, Over night there were two terrorists attacks in Brussels. At the airport, a subway station, and now investigators believe there was supposed to be a third in the works, but the suicide bomber walked away before their bomb exploded. In a week, my son is going to enter the contested Ankara airport in Turkey to return to Germany. The explosions were filled with nails to do maximum damage. Detectives admit, “Passengers carry large bags into airports. How does law enforcement check the vehicles, bags and passengers in a busy terminal?” Plus when the Western powers check my son’s passport to see that he is a Muslim American traveling back and forth to Turkey, will they question his travels? That happened to me after my passport had stamps from Egypt and Israel. The combined counties drew suspicion. I was used to being asked to step aside for questioning at all major international hubs.
